Medical Laboratory Technologist

We are seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Technologist responsible for both automated and manual testing, as well as instrument maintenance. The ideal candidate must possess the ability to recognize, troubleshoot, and initiate corrective actions for instrument issues. Working efficiently and accurately in a dynamic and busy environment is essential, along with the adaptability to change.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
• Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem-solving.
• Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

• Proficiency in laboratory, chemistry, and medical laboratory procedures.
• Experience with hematology and clinical laboratory instrumentation.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to perform quality control and documentation for releasing results.

• Experience in a busy family practice setting, accommodating up to 80 patients a day.
• Ability to perform CBC on a small analyzer, A1C on a DCA, urine tests, finger sticks, hemoglobin tests, and pregnancy tests.
• Familiarity with non-microscopic urine kits.
• Certification as MLT or MT.

The work environment is set in a family practice clinic, which can see up to 80 patients a day. You will work alongside one other technician and a phlebotomist. The clinic operates from 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM or 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with an hour for lunch. The role does not require weekend work. The dress code requires wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mount Olive, North Carolina.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $30.00/hr.
