Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Lab Scientist II to join our team. In this role, you will perform a variety of laboratory tests and procedures to ensure high-quality patient care. You will be responsible for determining the acceptability of specimens, performing technical procedures, and reporting accurate test results.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
• Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
• Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem-solving.
• Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
• Assist with the processing of specimens when needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or equivalent.
• 2-4 years of clinical laboratory testing experience.
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• Proficient with computers.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• High level of attention to detail.
• Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• State Medical Technologist license may be required.
• ASCP or AMT certification preferred or required.
• Familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus.
• MT, MLT, CLS certification.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
