Job Description
We are seeking a registered Mechanical Engineer, specializing in HVAC, to join our team and contribute to the design and management of mechanical and piping projects within the pharmaceutical and food & beverage industries. This full-time role offers the opportunity to lead department objectives and manage an engineering and design team.
Responsibilities
- Lead projects independently and develop conceptual, preliminary, and detailed designs, drawings, and specifications for HVAC systems, dust collection, chilled water systems, heating water, and controls.
- Manage and quality review of deliverables and project execution (estimated 50% of workload).
- Design mechanical systems including HVAC, hydronic, and steam systems (estimated 50% of workload).
- Assess project requirements, break them into tasks, and collaborate with Project Managers to determine the scope of work, budget, and staffing.
- Write the scope of work for mechanical or utility design based on preliminary reviews and client meetings.
- Prepare engineering studies and schematic designs for new systems and analyze the operation of existing systems.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 8 years of design engineering experience.
- Experience in engineering consulting within the food and beverage manufacturing or pharmaceutical manufacturing industries.
- Proficiency in HVAC system design and experience with central utilities including steam, chilled water, and compressed air systems.
- Solid knowledge of mechanical codes and standards including ASHRAE, ACGIH, and NFPA.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Design of material handling and dust collection systems is an asset.
- Familiarity with ISPE and HACCP requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, and Revit.
Work Environment
The position offers flexible working conditions, with a base in the RTP area. The candidate will engage with clients and customers and can work remotely or lead a team in the office. The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $170000.00/yr.
