A growing consulting engineering firm in Charlotte, NC, is seeking a Mechanical Designer with 2–3 years of experience to support commercial building projects. This role involves working closely with mechanical engineers to produce high-quality HVAC designs and construction documents across various building types. Responsibilities- Develop mechanical design drawings and construction documents for commercial building projects.
- Support HVAC system layout, ductwork, piping, and equipment selections under engineer direction.
- Produce and modify drawings using Revit (and AutoCAD as needed).
- Assist with coordination across disciplines (architectural, structural, electrical).
- Participate in QA/QC reviews to ensure accuracy and code compliance.
- Incorporate markups, redlines, and field feedback into design documents.
- Support permit and construction-phase documentation as required.
- 2–3 years of experience as a Mechanical Designer or HVAC Designer.
- Experience working on commercial building projects (office, healthcare, education, mixed-use, etc.).
- Proficiency in Revit for mechanical design.
- Working knowledge of HVAC systems, ductwork, and mechanical layouts.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a team-based environment.
- Associate’s degree or technical training in drafting, engineering technology, or related field.
- Familiarity with building codes and mechanical standards is a plus.
- Exposure to energy models, load calculations, or equipment schedules.
- Experience coordinating within an MEP consulting environment.
The position offers a hybrid schedule with 2 days a week working from home. The office is conveniently located just outside of Uptown Charlotte, NC. The company provides the opportunity to work on multiple diverse projects, promoting a dynamic and engaging work environment.
