Job Title: Mechanical Designer 3

Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Marine Designer 3 to join our team in designing piping systems using AutoCAD-based software and ShipConstructor. This role is crucial in supporting our shipyard projects, specifically for the United States Coast Guard's large vessel designs. The successful candidate will work under the guidance of a Designer 4 and collaborate closely with other Designers and Engineers.

Responsibilities

• Design piping systems using AutoCAD-based software and ShipConstructor.
• Convert piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) into 3D models and 2D drawings.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure design accuracy and project success.
• Communicate frequently with Designers and Engineers to align on project requirements and updates.
• Utilize specialized shipbuilding software that integrates with AutoCAD.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and ShipConstructor.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience with ShipConstructor.
• At least 5 years of experience working on piping detail design within the maritime community.
• Strong understanding of piping systems and instrumentation diagrams.
• Ability to translate P&IDs into 3D models and 2D drawings.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Formal education in drafting (preferred).
• Working knowledge of translating P&IDs to 3D models and 2D drawings.

Work Environment

The position is based in an Engineering Service Office where you will collaborate with a dedicated team of professionals. The role involves using advanced software and tools to ensure high-quality design and project delivery

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $50.00/hr.
