Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking a dedicated Mechatronics Engineer to lead the design and assembly of custom machinery and packaging equipment. This role involves robotics programming, primarily on FANUC and Universal Robotics platforms, and requires end-to-end project execution from design through testing and optimization. You will also interface with clients to ensure their satisfaction and collaborate closely with engineering and production teams to meet project timelines and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and assembly of custom machinery and packaging equipment using SolidWorks.
• Develop and implement robotic solutions with a focus on FANUC and Universal Robotics platforms.
• Ensure projects are executed beyond design, including assembly, thorough testing, and performance optimization.
• Participate in backend testing to validate machine functionality and resolve issues.
• Interface with clients to understand requirements, provide updates, and ensure satisfaction.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to meet project timelines and quality standards.

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 5 years of relevant experience in mechanical design and automation.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks and robotic programming (FANUC and Universal).
• Demonstrated ability to take initiative and anticipate project needs.
• Ability to follow through from design to build and test phases.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Prior experience in customer-facing roles is a plus.

This role reports directly to the Chief Engineer. The position is office-based, involving time split between desk work for design and programming and the shop floor for troubleshooting machines and equipment post-assembly. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oakland, NJ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $48.08 - $55.29/hr.
