Job Description
The Lean Manufacturing Changeover Specialist will focus on improving changeover processes for the Chewy Bars platform. This role involves collaboration with platform teams, floor teams, and site FSQ and department management to enhance changeover efficiency while maintaining safety and effectiveness. Using tools such as process mapping, value stream mapping, 5 whys, and fishbones, the specialist will identify improvement opportunities beyond cleaning practices. The role requires a flexible schedule to accommodate experimentation and process changes.
Responsibilities
- Identify opportunities to improve changeover practices and reduce changeover time.
- Develop process standards and pre-changeover preparation strategies.
- Collaborate with team leads to efficiently allocate resources.
- Teach and coach methodologies to treat changeovers with the same urgency as production.
- Develop best practices for clearing longest lead items.
- Work with FSQ to develop risk rankings and reasons for cleaning each item.
- Understand and eliminate overcleaning by working with floor and platform teams.
- Create and revise standard task flows to enhance speed without sacrificing safety.
- Identify pain points in cleaning processes and develop easier methods via changes in equipment, processes, or tools.
- Investigate and present capital opportunities to engineering.
- Experiment responsibly with new cleaning ideas.
- Gather and implement best cleaning practices from other sites or industries.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technical field with minimum 5 years of related manufacturing experience OR High School Diploma with minimum 10 years of related manufacturing experience.
- Working knowledge of data systems including manufacturing systems for asset and storeroom management, quality information tracking, ERP, and safety and environment management.
- Demonstrated capability in applying foundational systems and driving system utilization.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to effectively coach and utilize standards and processes for continuous improvement.
Work Environment
The work environment involves collaboration with various teams on the floor, requiring a highly flexible schedule to enable experimentation and process changes. The role utilizes technologies such as MAXIMO, INSQL, and GSTEMS for data and asset management.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Albuquerque, NM.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $58.00/hr.
