HVAC Technician

Job Description

Join a leading manufacturer of residential and commercial swimming pool equipment as a Test Technician at our Clemmons, NC facility. You will work closely with the Engineering Design and Lab Teams to provide testing and evaluation services essential for the development and enhancement of pool and spa products, with a focus on heat pump technologies.

Responsibilities

• Translate testing needs into test setups using plumbing, electrical, and mechanical skills.
• Instrument test setups, equipment, and samples for data acquisition.
• Build prototypes from existing units or from the ground up.
• Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults.
• Evaluate effectiveness and validity of test results.
• Collect, analyze, and summarize test data in reports for Engineering staff.
• Participate in daily laboratory activities, recommending improvements to existing products and testing schemes.
• Maintain the integrity of laboratory facilities and equipment.
• Review and interpret product standards and test procedures.
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols.

Essential Skills

• Minimum 3 years of independent work experience in the HVAC/Refrigeration field.
• EPA Section 608 Type II certification.
• Working knowledge of Refrigeration cycle theory.
• Competency in brazing, reclaiming, charging, and leak testing refrigeration systems.
• Strong aptitude for testing and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Ability to interpret test results and troubleshoot test setups.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and Data Acquisition Systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Formal education in HVAC/refrigeration is considered.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
• Competency in intermediate mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic principles.
• Team player with strong interpersonal, communication, analytical, and reasoning skills.
• Proven problem-solving, analytical, and logical reasoning skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Proficiency in basic measurement and instrumentation equipment.
• Forklift certification (or ability to obtain).

Work Environment

Work primarily in an office and laboratory setting, both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. The environment includes water, moving parts, and electrical machinery, and is occasionally noisy. Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm.

This is a Permanent position based out of Clemmons, North Carolina.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $33.00/hr.
