Hiring For Phlebotomist - Jackson Heights

We are seeking an experienced phlebotomist with over 2 years of recent experience in phlebotomy. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in using straight needles and demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and excellent communication skills. Familiarity with different color tubes and tests is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and handle decontamination.
• Update patient information and collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
• Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collections, such as urine or fecal, to patients.
• Demonstrate proper techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
• Ensure 100% accuracy by checking all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts.
• Package specimens for transport and store them according to required temperatures.
• Place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes and accurately label them.
• Follow different procedures as outlined by specific protocols necessary for transport to maintain the integrity of the specimen.

• Minimum 1 year of experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong communication skills.
• Reliability and punctuality.

• Familiarity with different color tubes and tests.
• Bilingual in Spanish is an advantage.

The position is based at a Patient Service Center (PSC) in Jackson Heights, Queens. The work schedule is Monday to Friday from 8 am to 5 pm, with rotating Saturdays from 8 am to 5 pm.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elmhurst, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
