Job Title: Geospatial Specialist
Position Overview
The Geospatial Specialist supports organizational planning and operational initiatives by collecting, analyzing, and visualizing geospatial data. This role leverages advanced technologies—including drones/UAVs, LiDAR, remote sensing, and 3D mapping—to create accurate spatial products, insights, and solutions for cross‑functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
Data Acquisition & Management
- Collect geospatial datasets using a variety of sources such as drones (UAVs), LiDAR sensors, satellite imagery, GPS/GNSS equipment, and public geospatial repositories.
- Process, clean, and maintain GIS datasets to ensure accuracy and integrity.
- Manage and update geospatial databases and metadata following industry best practices.
Spatial Analysis & Visualization
- Perform advanced spatial analyses, including terrain modeling, change detection, LiDAR point‑cloud processing, and geostatistical modeling.
- Create high‑quality maps, dashboards, and 3D visualizations using tools like ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, ArcGIS Online, and web‑mapping platforms.
- Develop geoprocessing models and analytical workflows to support field operations, engineering studies, and planning efforts.
GIS & Remote Sensing Technologies
- Operate and support drone-based data collection missions, including flight planning, data capture, and post‑processing.
- Process LiDAR datasets for topographic mapping, asset identification, and infrastructure assessment.
- Utilize remote sensing imagery for land‑use classification, environmental analysis, and monitoring applications.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Partner with engineering, field operations, environmental, and business teams to deliver geospatial insights.
- Provide training and guidance on GPS/GIS data collection, drone workflows, and mapping tools.
Project Support
- Support field projects by deploying UAV mapping tools and mobile GIS applications.
- Assist with surveying tasks, asset inventory, environmental monitoring, and infrastructure assessments.
- Contribute to large-scale geospatial projects involving corridor mapping, site development, and environmental compliance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Geospatial Science, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 2 years professional experience in GIS, remote sensing, or geospatial analysis.
- Proficiency with GIS platforms such as ArcGIS, ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, or similar.
- Experience with LiDAR processing and/or drone-collected datasets.
- Strong understanding of cartography, coordinate systems, and spatial analysis techniques.
- Familiarity with GPS/GNSS data collection and mobile mapping tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience operating drones/UAVs (FAA Part 107 certification a plus).
- Expertise in LiDAR classification, point cloud editing, and 3D modeling.
- Proficiency with Python, R, SQL, or JavaScript for geospatial automation or analysis.
- Experience with remote sensing tools (ENVI, ERDAS, Google Earth Engine).
- Knowledge of enterprise GIS systems, web-mapping tools, and cloud-based geospatial platforms.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Raleigh, NC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
