Summary:
We are seeking a Field Service Installation Lead Technician to lead the installation, integration, and verification of complex military communication systems, with a strong emphasis on shipboard and naval environments. This role owns installation efforts from planning through execution, ensures compliance with safety and military standards, and serves as the technical lead onsite during field operations. This is a hands‑on leadership role requiring extensive travel, direct customer interaction, and close collaboration with project and program management teams to ensure technical, schedule, and contractual success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as Installation Lead for communication systems, managing activities from pre‑planning through final system acceptance.
- Create and maintain installation plans, procedures, drawings, and technical deliverables in compliance with contractual and military requirements.
- Develop, plan, and execute System Operation Verification Tests (SOVTs) to validate system performance and operational readiness.
- Ensure strict compliance with OSHA safety standards and applicable military regulations during installation and test activities.
- Support Project and Program Managers by identifying, analyzing, and resolving technical, schedule, and execution risks.
- Lead platform integration and upgrade efforts, particularly in shipboard, shipyard, and military operating environments.
- Produce detailed installation and service reports, accurately documenting work performed, test results, issues, and corrective actions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to communication and navigation systems, implementing effective field fixes as needed.
- Manage day‑to‑day execution of DoD projects, ensuring work remains on schedule and within scope.
- Coordinate and direct onsite vendors and subcontractors to ensure smooth and compliant execution of installation activities.
- Mentor and guide junior technicians, providing technical leadership and reinforcing best practices.
- Interpret and apply military standards, procedures, and documentation requirements throughout installation and testing activities.
- Populate and maintain required military forms, records, and project documentation.
- Operate independently and as part of a distributed team, maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and professionalism.
Qualifications:
- Active Secret clearance
- Valid passport with ability to travel domestically and internationally
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience leading field installations or teams, preferably in military shipboard environments
- At least 3 years of experience supporting DoD programs involving communication systems RDT&E
- Proven experience managing day‑to‑day DoD project execution
- Experience working with military standards, procedures, and documentation
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat for technical documentation
- Experience coordinating and directing vendors and subcontractors
- Demonstrated ability to mentor junior team members
- Physically able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods
This is a Contract position based out of Chesapeake City, MD.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $32.00 - $45.00/hr.
