Job Title: Electrical Engineer

Job Description

The Electrical Engineer will play a critical role in the care and development of drones, focusing on designing new electronic systems and maintaining the current fleet. This position involves working on eco-conscious UAS fleet design, ensuring optimal performance, maintenance, and safety in partnership with utilities and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Apply electrical engineering knowledge to design and develop new products and enhance existing ones.
• Conduct electrical circuit and system-level design analysis, embedded systems hardware testing, and electrical circuit troubleshooting.
• Develop test simulations, test methods, and perform required testing or data collection.
• Conduct root cause failure analysis at the component through system level.
• Support continuation engineering of existing released products.
• Perform reliability analysis to improve product quality.
• Maintain accurate documentation of concepts, designs, drawings, and processes.
• Provide detailed project estimates for time and cost.
• Collaborate with outside design partners and vendors for new product designs and to maintain current products.
• Coordinate with engineering, product design, test, EMC engineering, and manufacturing teams.
• Work with other engineering, manufacturing, sales/marketing, and quality assurance staff to coordinate pilot production of new products.
• Provide engineering support to factory/customer support.
• Coordinate engineering support for prototype builds and lab testing.
• Write test plans and procedures for manufacturing and testing.
• Stay updated on all relevant safety and electrical compliance standards and educate the team on changes.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 5 years of experience in electrical design, particularly in subsystems such as power supplies, video systems, camera systems, LIDAR systems, radar systems, servers, motors, and motor controllers.
• Experience in electrical design within the UAV space is preferred.
• Proficiency in Altium or similar software for PCB design.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in small electronic component manufacturing or design.
• PCB layout experience.

Work Environment

The position is based in a shop and R&D space with a typical work schedule of 9-5 or 8-4. The role offers a cool startup environment with the opportunity to design an aircraft from start to finish.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $48.00 - $62.50/hr.
