Job Description
The Dispensing Technician accurately fills daily prescription orders, supports pharmacy operations, and helps maintain a well-organized medication inventory in a closed-door, technology-driven environment. This role focuses on prescription fulfillment rather than direct customer interaction and offers opportunities for growth within a modern and collaborative pharmacy setting.
Responsibilities
- Fill daily prescription orders, including punch cards, bulk items, over-the-counter medications, compounded medications, cassettes, and prepackaged items with a high level of accuracy.
- Print daily prescription orders for the pharmacy and ensure all related documentation is complete and accurate.
- Print and organize labels and delivery sheets to support efficient and timely medication distribution.
- Stock and restock medication inventory, ensuring products are stored correctly and readily available for dispensing.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with inventory control processes to reduce waste and prevent stockouts.
- Follow all pharmacy procedures, regulations, and safety guidelines while handling and dispensing medications.
- Use pharmacy technology and equipment to support fulfillment, packaging, and prescription refill activities.
- Collaborate with pharmacy team members to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of daily prescription volume.
- Demonstrate flexibility in working different shifts as needed to support pharmacy operations.
Essential Skills
- Pharmacy technician experience, preferably 6 months or more in a pharmacy setting.
- Hands-on experience in prescription fulfillment and packaging in environments such as retail or closed-door pharmacies.
- Experience with prescription refill processes and inventory management in a pharmacy.
- Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced dispensing environment.
- Comfort using pharmacy technology and systems to process, label, and track prescriptions.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience in large retail or fulfillment pharmacies such as chain or mail-order environments is beneficial.
- Demonstrated ability to work with a large inventory of medications and manage stock effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy when handling and labeling medications.
- Ability to adapt to a technology-driven environment and learn new systems and processes.
- Interest in professional growth and development within a growing pharmacy operation.
Work Environment
This role is based in a closed-door pharmacy environment with no direct customer-facing responsibilities. The facility maintains a large inventory of medications and uses very clean, modern equipment to support a highly technology-driven workflow. The culture is described as laid back, collaborative, and supportive, with educated team members and clear opportunities for growth. The schedule is 2:30 pm–11:00 pm.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bridgeville, PA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.
