Job Title: Digital Design Engineer – Communications & Brand Storytelling

Job Description

The Digital Design Engineer will elevate the Digital Engineering brand by creating high-impact presentations, narratives, and visual materials that clearly communicate strategy, initiatives, and business value, including GenAI and broader digital transformation efforts. In this role, you will translate complex technical work into compelling stories that resonate with executives, partners, and diverse business audiences, combining strong visual design skills with strategic communication and a solid understanding of technical content.

Responsibilities

• Lead the creation of polished, executive-ready presentations that clearly communicate Digital Engineering strategy, progress, and business impact.
• Translate complex technical topics, such as GenAI, automation, and systems engineering modernization, into clear and engaging narratives tailored to different audiences.
• Develop and maintain a cohesive visual identity and branding approach for Digital Engineering and its AI initiatives.
• Partner closely with engineering leaders, product managers, and technical teams to craft messaging for reviews, strategy sessions, roadmaps, and cross-functional updates.
• Create diagrams, infographics, visual frameworks, and conceptual diagrams that simplify technical workflows, architectures, data stories, and value streams.
• Build reusable templates, slide libraries, and communication assets that improve consistency, efficiency, and brand recognition across the organization.
• Support change management and adoption efforts by producing clear, compelling materials that explain the purpose, benefits, and implementation of digital and AI initiatives.
• Ensure all communications reinforce clarity, credibility, and alignment with enterprise branding standards and guidelines.
• Provide guidance and coaching to teams on effective storytelling, visual communication, and message framing for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Collaborate with technical teams and leaders to understand priorities, gather input, and refine messaging based on feedback.
• Analyze available data and metrics to craft data-informed stories that highlight the impact and value of AI and digital engineering initiatives.
• Drive the branding of AI teams and initiatives, helping to establish a recognizable, modern, and engaging visual and narrative presence across the organization.
• Create modern, visually striking presentations and graphics that leave audiences impressed and excited about the work being done.
• Communicate clearly what the team is and is not doing, what is coming in the pipeline, and how initiatives align with broader business goals.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize work effectively, and deliver high-quality communication materials under tight timelines.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in communications, branding, design, or technical storytelling roles.
• Strong expertise in presentation design using tools such as PowerPoint, Google Slides, or similar platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to create modern, high-impact, executive-ready presentations that engage and inspire audiences.
• Proven ability to simplify and communicate complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
• Strong writing, editing, and narrative-building skills for technical and business topics.
• Experience collaborating with technical teams and leaders to develop clear and aligned messaging.
• Strong visual design sense, including layout, hierarchy, information design, and UI/UX principles.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize effectively, and deliver high-quality work under tight timelines.
• Proficiency in corporate communication and technical product or project communication.
• Demonstrated skill in creating visuals that effectively represent AI and digital initiatives and drive interest and adoption.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience supporting digital transformation, engineering, or technology-focused organizations.
• Familiarity with GenAI concepts and the ability to incorporate them into messaging, visuals, and storytelling.
• Proficiency with design tools such as Adobe Illustrator, Figma, or Canva, including the ability to translate conceptual ideas into compelling visual outputs.
• Experience creating infographics, visual frameworks, conceptual diagrams, and charge graphics to explain complex ideas.
• Understanding of change management communication principles and how to support adoption of new tools and processes.
• Ability to coach others on effective communication, presentation techniques, and visual storytelling.
• Experience with UI/UX concepts and their application to visual communication and presentation design.
• Strong presentation skills, including the ability to structure and deliver content that keeps audiences engaged.
• Interest in and curiosity about AI, with a desire to stay current on trends and best practices in AI communication and branding.
• Ability to use design and communication skills to get people engaged in AI initiatives and interested in participating and adopting new solutions.

Work Environment

The role operates in a highly collaborative, technology-driven environment where you work closely with engineering leaders, product managers, and technical teams on digital transformation and AI initiatives. You will regularly use presentation tools such as PowerPoint and Google Slides, as well as design platforms like Adobe Illustrator, Figma, or Canva, to create modern, visually compelling materials. The work involves balancing multiple projects and deadlines, requiring strong organization and responsiveness to evolving business priorities. You will contribute to a culture that values clear communication, strong visual storytelling, and consistent branding, with frequent opportunities to influence how digital engineering and AI efforts are perceived across the organization

This is a Contract position based out of Wilmington, NC.

The pay range for this position is $33.69 - $33.69/hr.
