Design Release Engineer - Wiring

We are seeking a skilled Design Release Engineer specializing in wiring. The role involves managing the Design Verification Plan (DVP) according to GPDS VPP timing, ensuring milestone identification and test classification. You will generate DVPs with inputs from Design and Release engineers, lead DV testing activities, and track the closure of DVs. Your expertise will support program success through technical design reviews, cost reduction plans, and quality assurance efforts.

• Manage DVP according to GPDS VPP timing, including milestone identification and test classification.
• Confirm component and System CAE Electrical and Mechanical IPS are complete as part of DV audits.
• Generate DVP with inputs from Design and Release engineers and propose test methods through benchmarking.
• Identify and evaluate DV opportunities based on warranty and field findings.
• Lead DV testing activities with DRs and suppliers, including EDS, plastics, and metal brackets.
• Generate DV plans for cost reduction ideas and perform engineering cost estimates for physical test plans.
• Track closure of DVs as per DVP and ensure Technical Design Reviews occur with proper preparation.
• Ensure TDR Checklist items are fully closed with sufficient evidence for evaluation.
• Support Chief Attestation sign-off reviews and confirm eCAR matrix assessments are completed.
• Ensure HCA harness complexity analysis is executed using Falcon and stored at WERS for every Notice Released.
• Review DCCS re-DV by DCR for design changes post-FDJ and ACCS re-DV by DCR for alerts post-DCVs.
• Lead part ordering through RPS for DVP validation and sign-off.
• Raise issues in client systems per DVP review of non-compliant DVs.
• Support the creation and upkeep of VOME SCCAF and supplier SCCAF DFMEA.
• Review Change Point Analysis Worksheet (CPAW).
• Conduct durability and VOCF vehicle testing reviews with DRs.
• Support on-site evaluations in manufacturing and assembly plants to ensure DV PV deliverables are completed.
• Review quality history with quality assurance team and track fix implementation for owned issues.
• Support Campaign Prevent events and audit virtual design review closure from DR side.
• Attend PRA/PAC forums and lead 3L5W Detection leg.
• Apply knowledge of Six Sigma and 8D methodologies.

• 5-10 years of wiring harness design and vehicle launch experience.
• Basic 3D CAD knowledge, 3DX preferred.
• Familiarity with automotive PPAP process.
• Understanding of feature partitioning.
• Solid automotive engineering knowledge, especially in wiring harness design.

• Engineering degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.
• Time and project management skills.
• Experience in wiring harness manufacturing.
• Knowledge of manufacturing quality documentation, including PFMEA, control plans, and line flow charts.
• Component testing experience on bench, dyno, and vehicle.
• Working knowledge of commercially available AI tools and resources.

This role follows a hybrid schedule, requiring you to be on-site 4 days per week. The work environment supports collaborative efforts with a focus on design, testing, and quality assurance in automotive wiring harness engineering.

This is a Contract position based out of Dearborn, MI.

The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $51.00/hr.
