Job Title: Controls Engineer - 6 month contract

Job Description

We are seeking two Controls and Process Automation Engineers to support operations at a large-scale steel manufacturing facility in Pueblo, CO. This role focuses on controls and maintenance, requiring hands-on expertise in automation systems and drive technologies.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-the-floor support to maintenance and production teams.
• Collaborate with electricians and troubleshoot automation issues.
• Make minor changes to automation and HMI programs.
• Help minimize downtime and ensure continuous mill operations.
• Support commissioning efforts for upcoming systems.

Essential Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with PLCs and HMIs.
• Proficiency in working with ABB drives.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.
• Comfortable working in a high-paced, industrial environment.
• Available for on-call support during emergencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Automated Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent experience).
• 5 years of experience in industrial automation.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, Project, and PowerPoint.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.

Work Environment

The facility includes a full melt shop and four product lines, with two rolling mills currently generating revenue. The work environment spans office areas and manufacturing sites, with variable temperatures depending on location in the steel mill. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $60.00/hr.
