Job Title: Controls Engineer (Siemens Automation Project)
Job Description
This role focuses on supporting a Siemens-based automation project as a dedicated Controls Engineer. You will work closely with a Lead Controls Engineer to develop, program, integrate, and support PLC-based automation systems, ensuring reliable operation and successful project delivery. This is a full-time, project-based position with potential extension through the installation and startup phase.
Responsibilities
- Support the Lead Controls Engineer in the development, execution, and refinement of Siemens-based automation systems.
- Program, configure, and troubleshoot Siemens PLCs using TIA Portal to meet project functional requirements.
- Assist with offline PLC programming, simulation, and system validation before deployment.
- Integrate and support Kistler servo press systems within the overall control architecture.
- Integrate and support Cognex vision systems, including configuration and troubleshooting.
- Integrate sensors, I/O devices, and SMC valve stacks into the control system and ensure proper operation.
- Perform system testing and debugging to identify, analyze, and resolve control system issues.
- Provide commissioning support, including verification of functionality and fine-tuning of control logic.
- Collaborate with the internal engineering team to align on design standards, meet project timelines, and achieve deliverables.
- Provide onsite support during installation and startup when required, ensuring smooth handover and system performance.
- Apply electrical, automation, and robotics knowledge to improve system reliability and performance.
- Document changes, configurations, and test results to support traceability and future maintenance.
Essential Skills
- Proven experience in Siemens PLC programming, including use of TIA Portal.
- Hands-on experience with PLC programming, troubleshooting, and automation systems.
- Experience integrating and supporting Cognex vision systems.
- Background in controls engineering with exposure to electrical and automation systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex control issues involving sensors, I/O, and valve stacks.
- Strong understanding of industrial control concepts, including servo systems and motion control.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering teams and support project execution from development through commissioning.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in a project-based environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience integrating Kistler servo press systems into PLC-based control architectures.
- Exposure to Allen-Bradley PLCs and related programming environments.
- Familiarity with robotics in an automation context.
- Experience with SMC valve stacks, sensors, and industrial I/O hardware.
- Ability to support both offline and onsite programming, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced project environment with defined milestones and deadlines.
Work Environment
This is a project-based, full-time role dedicated to a Siemens-based automation project, with a defined project duration and potential extension through the installation and startup phase. You will primarily work with Siemens PLCs using TIA Portal, integrating technologies such as Kistler servo press systems, Cognex vision systems, sensors, I/O, and SMC valve stacks.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
