The Construction Project Engineer will initiate, manage, and track Requests for Information (RFIs) from creation through resolution. This role involves preparing, maintaining, and monitoring Changes in Contract (CICs) and subcontractor change orders. The engineer will organize, track, and maintain product submittals, samples, and approval logs, and update as-built drawings to reflect field conditions and changes. Additionally, the engineer will create, organize, and maintain job-specific project files and document control systems, review contract drawings, plans, and specifications for accuracy, and identify errors or discrepancies in contract documents for resolution. The role also includes performing material quantity takeoffs to support procurement, pricing, and planning, providing layout support and technical assistance to the project team, assisting with project scheduling, and supporting superintendents and project managers to facilitate daily jobsite operations.

- Organize, track, and maintain product submittals, samples, and approval logs.
- Maintain and update as-built drawings to reflect field conditions and changes.
- Create, organize, and maintain job-specific project files and document control systems.
- Review contract drawings, plans, and specifications for accuracy and constructability.
- Identify errors, omissions, or discrepancies in contract documents and assist in resolution.
- Perform material quantity takeoffs to support procurement, pricing, and planning.
- Provide layout support and overall technical assistance to the project team.
- Assist with project scheduling and updates as needed.
- Provide general support to superintendents and project managers for daily jobsite operations.
- Develop, organize, and maintain project closeout documentation, including warranties and as-builts.
- Support the project team in delivering a safe, compliant, and high-quality finished product.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support project success.
- Expertise in construction management and commercial construction.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints and construction drawings.
- Experience in ground-up construction projects.
- Strong project coordination skills and contractor experience.
- Familiarity with MS Project, Bluebeam, and construction supervision.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Knowledge of construction software such as Bluebeam, Viewpoint, and/or Autodesk.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Building Science, Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Flexible, reliable, and able to maintain focus in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong multitasking, prioritization, and organizational skills with high attention to detail.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and conflict resolution capabilities.
- Ability to climb ladders and stairs and safely navigate multi-terrain, active jobsites.
- Working knowledge of wood frame and commercial construction across all disciplines and phases preferred.
This position requires onsite work at projects throughout the Portland area. The role provides an opportunity to progress from Project Engineer to Assistant Superintendent, with further career paths available. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.86 - $52.00/hr.
