Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Technician
Be the person who proves it’s built right.
You’ll be on active job sites testing materials and verifying work meets plans/specs — the results you capture help keep projects safe, compliant, and moving. If you like field work, variety, and being the “go-to” for quality, you’ll like this role.
What you’ll do (the good stuff)
- Test materials in the field: soil, concrete, asphalt, masonry (and more)
- Inspect active construction work for compliance with plans/specs
- Run more complex tests, capture accurate data, and document observations
- Write clear field reports (timely detailed)
- Communicate results with contractors, clients, engineers, and PMs
- Help guide other technicians when needed
What you need to have
- 2 years in construction materials testing (or closely related)
- Hands-on experience with soil/concrete/asphalt/masonry testing & inspection
- Ability to read plans/specs and follow testing procedures
- Strong attention to detail solid documentation/report writing
- Valid driver’s license safe driving record
Certifications (required to maintain)
- ACI Level I Concrete OR
- ICC certs in soils / reinforced concrete / masonry
Field reality (transparent)
- Daily travel to job sites using a company vehicle
- Outdoor work in changing weather active construction environments
- Lift/carry/push/pull equipment/materials up to 70 lbs regularly
- Uses company phone/tablet for reporting communication
- Pre-employment screening required (background, drug, driving record)
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Charlotte, NC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
