Certerra-Southern Engineering is hiring a CMT (Construction Materials Testing) Technician to perform testing of various construction materials on active construction sites to verify compliance with project documents.
Required
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) diploma.
- Must hold and maintain a valid driver’s license and be deemed insurable by the firm insurance carrier
- American Concrete Institute (ACI) Field Technician Level I Certification
- National Institute for Certification of Engineering Technologies (NICET) CMT Level I or higher (soils or concrete)
- International Code Council (ICC) Soils Certification
- NCDOT Certifications (e.g., QMS Roadway Technician conventional density, ABC/borrow pit sampling)
- Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Exhibit excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and/or within Team environments.
- Concrete/Grout/Mortar inspection and testing
- Monitoring for proper placement techniques
- Testing for slump, air content, unit weight, temperature
- Molding of compressive strength specimens
- Core drilling
- Asphalt
- Establishing test locations
- Checking load temperature
- Verifying property laydown and rolling practices
- Core drilling for density/thickness specimen
- Soil/Aggregate testing
- Testing density/compaction
- Observing proofrolling
- Verifying proper moisture content
- Checking bearing capacity for foundation support
- Excavation quantification
- Pay and staffing level commensurate with the number of years of experiences and active certifications
