Job Title: Construction Materials Technician

Job Description

• This role involves providing critical materials testing and observation services on projects such as roadways, bridges, airports, large commercial developments, and remediation efforts.
• You will perform both field and laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials, including soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel.
• Your work will be guided by specified procedures and training, and you will provide clear documentation and analysis of findings.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field and laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials.
• Ensure testing is performed according to specified procedures and training.
• Document findings and results clearly and accurately.
• Perform basic analysis of data to verify accuracy before communication.
• Communicate information effectively to the Project Manager and other personnel.
• Maintain and calibrate equipment as required.
• Train lower-level technicians based on experience level.

Essential Skills

• 1-2 years of relevant field experience in construction materials testing.
• Experience with concrete, steel, and compaction testing.
• Ability to pass a drug/background/MVR check (THC is permissible).
• Valid driver's license.
• Proficiency in using a laptop computer with Microsoft Word and Excel.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal skills.
• An engineering degree is advantageous.
• Experience with ACI Level I certification is beneficial.
• Familiarity with quality assurance, NICET, and nuclear gauge testing.
• Knowledge of geology and engineering principles.
• Ability to read and understand geotechnical reports.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Syracuse, NY.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $26.00/hr.
