Job Title: Lab Technician - Construction Materials (SEASONAL)
Overview:
The successful candidate will be responsible for learning test methods, specifications and reporting of findings related to various materials used in the day to day operations of the company. These will include but not be limited to asphalt binder, asphalt emulsions, aggregates and bituminous mixtures.
Safety Expectations: All Suit-Kote employees are required to comply with all safety rules and to observe safe work practices and operating procedures at all times. Whenever on Suit-Kote property or job sites, or operating Suit- Kote equipment, employees are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that promotes the safety of the employee, co-workers and others.
Responsibilities/Job Duties:
• Perform routine daily testing of materials
• Clear and concise reporting of all findings to immediate supervisor
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Help in the Plant/Yard during startup/shut down and down times
Required Skills/Abilities:
• Strong work ethic
• Strong attention to detail
• Good time management skills
• Attendance is "highly critical"
• FLEXIBILTY- Overtime and weekend hours are anticipated and with minimal notice
• Travel throughout NY and PA sometimes required.
• Passing a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening is required and a background check will be conducted
• Consent to a DMV license evaluation
• Must have or be willing to obtain an OSHA 10 Hour Safety Certificate
Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds
• Observe and comply with necessary PPE requirements
• Must be able to work in a noisy area with many odors present
• Bending, stretching, stooping, kneeling, crawling and squatting
Salary: $20-$22
Other Preferred Qualities:
• Associates degree in Engineering Science or Construction Technology
• Ability to read and understand SDS
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office)
Position is considered full time, but seasonal in nature, with anticipated lay-off in the November thru March time-frame. Site specific locations may have varying seasonal requirements that can extend or contract these timeframes.
