Description: Small GC focusing on commercial, residential, and industrial projects
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze project drawings, specifications, contracts, and scope documents
- Perform quantity takeoffs for all divisions of commercial construction
- Develop detailed cost estimates including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor pricing, contingencies, and overhead
- Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and vendor bids
- Evaluate project risks, constructability issues, and value engineering alternatives
- Prepare bid proposals, cost breakdowns, and supporting documentation
- Maintain historical cost data and unit pricing databases
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client presentations as needed
- Collaborate with project management teams during turnover and preconstruction
- Support budget development, cost forecasting, and change order pricing
- Ensure estimates align with company standards and market conditions
Essential Skills
- 2 years of estimating commercial projects
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field is a plus
- Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Sage Estimating, ProEst, PlanSwift, Bluebeam, or similar)
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and construction takeoff tools
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings
