💡 Construction Estimator – Site Work & Civil Construction (Long Island | In-Office)

G&M Works specializes in excavation, grading, utilities, drainage, concrete, landscaping, and rooftop amenity construction. We’re looking for an experienced Construction Estimator to help deliver accurate, competitive bids and support our growing portfolio of complex projects.

🔍 About the Role

You’ll prepare detailed cost estimates for site development projects, including earthwork, drainage systems, landscaping, and rooftop amenity spaces. This role requires strong technical knowledge of civil construction methods and the ability to manage multiple estimates involving diverse scopes and subcontractors.

🛠️ Key Responsibilities

• Analyze plans, specifications, and geotechnical reports to prepare complete and competitive estimates
• Perform detailed quantity take-offs for:
  • Site drainage systems (stormwater management, catch basins, infiltration systems)
  • Cuts and fills (earth movement calculations, soil balancing)
  • Landscaping (hardscape, softscape, irrigation systems)
  • Rooftop amenity spaces (pavers, planters, green roofs, structural supports)
• Review civil, structural, and architectural drawings for scope coordination
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes
• Develop cost breakdowns and bid proposals including labor, materials, equipment, and markups
• Participate in site visits and pre-bid meetings
• Coordinate with project managers and engineers to align estimates with execution strategies
• Maintain historical cost data for benchmarking
• Assist with value engineering and scope alternatives

✅ Qualifications

• 3–7 years of estimating experience in site work, civil construction, and landscaping scopes
• Strong understanding of:
  • Stormwater and site drainage design
  • Earthwork balancing and grading plans
  • Site and rooftop landscaping details
• Proficiency in estimating software (Bluebeam, AutoCAD)
• Ability to read and interpret civil, structural, and architectural drawings
• Strong communication and negotiation skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Island Park, NY.

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $65.00/hr.
