Job Title: Quality Control Laboratory Technician
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Lab Technician to join our team and assist with Quality Control testing in a manufacturing lab specializing in color and plastic additives. The technician will perform various tests, including viscosity, color, spectrophotometry, and titration, while managing documentation in Excel and using SAP.
Responsibilities
- Perform color matching assignments with high quality, adhering to the FIFO rule, and blend samples for customer testing and evaluation.
- Collaborate with the Lab Manager to issue SDS, TDS, and QC documents and prepare customer declarations. Maintain and update technical documentation.
- Ensure samples are correctly labeled and ensure the availability of documentation related to product toxicity and classification.
- Conduct regular sample follow-ups to confirm product satisfaction with customer requirements, and provide solutions for adjustments if needed.
- Perform Quality Control tests on finished products to ensure quality consistency and compliance with customer specifications.
- Verify the approval or rejection of incoming raw materials against technical specifications agreed with suppliers.
- Contribute to defining specifications for new products.
- Provide technical support through site visits to customers, and report back any applicative knowledge to the Lab Manager.
- Represent the company at trade shows or events as needed.
- Investigate customer product complaints in cooperation with the Lab Manager, propose corrective actions, and verify their effectiveness.
- Manage and control the calibration of all laboratory equipment.
- Perform tests and suggest recovery instructions for non-compliant products.
- Ensure proper information flow to colleagues to enhance the laboratory's technical experience.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the workspace and lab instruments.
- Ensure timely completion of new formulations data in SAP.
- Perform other duties as requested by the Lab Manager.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in color matching and color theory
- Experience with viscosity, titration, and spectrophotometry
- Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and SAP
- Familiarity with quality control and wet chemistry techniques
- Understanding of ink chemistry and plastic additives
- Good communication and teamwork skills
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High School or Associate's degree, or working towards a Bachelor's degree
- Positive attitude and good work ethic
- Completion of chemistry or biology coursework required
- Prior lab experience preferred but not required
Work Environment
The role will be based in a Quality Control Lab associated with colored plastics and additives, requiring attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols. The technician will work with various lab instruments and technologies, maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of DALLAS, NC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
