Job Description
The Civil Superintendent is responsible for overseeing a range of project work activities including earthwork, site grading, flatwork (asphalt and concrete), surveying and site layout, concrete installation, deep foundations, drilled piers, underground piping, grounding, and duct banks. The role involves overall supervision of construction efforts with a focus on safety, productivity, material management, quality, scheduling, and contractual performance. The superintendent will also be responsible for subcontractor compliance and building effective relationships with clients and subcontractors.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and direct the daily efforts of physical construction through coordination of field activities and subcontractor direction.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and quality requirements.
- Collaborate with project management to develop and implement project procedures and standards.
- Authorize purchase requisitions and field design change requests under the supervision of Construction and Project Managers.
- Complete daily field reports and document construction progress through photographs.
- Assess future work activities and address concerns using subcontractors' 3-week look ahead reports.
- Develop marked-up and as-built drawings for record set documents and address RFIs with assistance from the Assistant Project Manager or Field Engineer.
- Manage subcontractors to comply with project schedules and track progress based on installed quantity and work hours.
- Verify material deliveries against specifications and ensure proper storage and maintenance.
- Coordinate with the QA/QC Manager to ensure welders on site are qualified.
- Oversee equipment setting, alignment, and system testing processes.
- Develop punch lists for items that are non-compliant or incomplete.
- Ensure the most current drawing revisions are used in the field.
- Understand and execute project scope, manage changes, and ensure field change orders are executed.
- Provide oversight for project site material and tool management.
- Read, interpret, and understand isometric, structural, and P&ID drawings.
- Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all company policies and standards.
- Experience in civil construction and construction management.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Strong focus on safety and compliance.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Bachelor's Degree with 7 years of construction management or craft supervision experience on civil projects.
- Associate Degree with 9 years of construction management or craft supervision experience on civil projects.
- High School Diploma/GED with 11 years of construction management or craft supervision experience on civil projects.
The work environment involves daily field construction coordination, requiring oversight of all field activities and ensuring compliance with code and specifications. The role demands the ability to work collaboratively with various project stakeholders and to maintain effective communication across teams.

This is a Contract position based out of Kansas City, MO.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $60.00 - $60.00/hr.
