Job Description
Join our dynamic team as a Civil Engineer, where you will play a crucial role in the development and implementation of engineering plans across various domains such as grading, drainage, utilities, landfill construction, and stormwater management. You will support solid waste engineering design and permitting efforts for landfills, transfer stations, and recycling facilities, while preparing technical documentation and permit applications. Additionally, you will collect and analyze air and water samples to support regulatory compliance, utilize AutoCAD for project design, and monitor construction activities at solid waste landfill facilities.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the development and implementation of engineering plans, including grading, drainage, utilities, landfill gas collection systems, and stormwater management.
- Support solid waste engineering design and permitting efforts for landfills, transfer stations, and recycling facilities.
- Prepare technical documentation such as operating plans, Construction Quality Assurance (CQA) reports, and permit applications.
- Collect and analyze air and water monitoring samples to support regulatory compliance and project requirements.
- Utilize computer-aided design software (AutoCAD) to support project design and documentation.
- Monitor and document construction activities at solid waste landfill facilities, including field inspection and testing of soils and geosynthetic liner systems.
- Perform field duties involving Construction Quality Assurance (CQA) and Construction Quality Control (CQC) activities across multiple states.
- Collaborate closely with senior staff and management while providing direction to support staff as needed.
- Provide general project support to senior engineers to ensure timely and successful completion of tasks.
- Participate in on-site job training as required to support professional development and project needs.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Engineering, or Environmental Engineering required.
- 0-4 years of experience in engineering.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D desired.
- Knowledge of civil 3D, AutoCAD, surveying, and soil mechanics.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- EIT certification desired.
- Ability to travel will be required, often on limited notice.
- Valid driver's license with a driving record in good standing.
- Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
Work Environment
You will be part of a small team. The role reports directly to the senior Project Manager with occasional travel for field work utilizing a company vehicle. Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Springfield, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $31.25 - $36.06/hr.
