Civil Construction Superintendent
Location: Hawthorne, NY (projects across the NY Metro area)

Role Summary
The Civil Construction Superintendent oversees field execution for site/civil and structural scopes—coordinating crews, subcontractors, suppliers, inspections, and stakeholders to ensure safety, quality, schedule adherence, and cost control. Typical work includes utility installation (water/sewer/storm), roadway and site grading, concrete foundations and structures, hardscape, paving, and associated temporary works for municipal and commercial projects across the region.
Key Responsibilities
Field Leadership & Planning
- Manage daily site operations including look‑ahead planning, crew scheduling, equipment allocation, and production tracking for civil/site and concrete scopes.
- Lead union craft labor and subcontractors; conduct daily briefings and reinforce safety expectations.
- Coordinate utilities, earthwork, concrete operations, masonry, hardscape, and paving activities to avoid rework and maintain productivity.
Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Maintain an incident‑free site by conducting toolbox talks, safety walks, permit reviews, and corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with NYC and New York State agency standards, including DOT, DEP, DDC, and Parks requirements.
- Oversee inspections, testing activities, and quality standards throughout the project lifecycle.
Stakeholder & Agency Coordination
- Coordinate with owners, designers, construction managers, utilities (such as regional power providers), and public agencies to resolve conflicts and maintain progress—particularly in utility‑dense urban corridors.
- Support traffic, street, and sidewalk restoration efforts, as well as permit and regulatory compliance on public infrastructure projects.
Schedule, Cost & Documentation
- Maintain and update 3‑week look‑aheads aligned with the master schedule; identify risks and implement recovery plans.
- Complete and validate daily reports, timecards, delivery logs, and material tracking; assist with change documentation and cost controls.
Logistics & Procurement Support
- Forecast and coordinate delivery of materials such as piping, structures, rebar, concrete, forms, and embeds; manage staging, laydown areas, and logistics for urban job sites.
Qualifications
Required
- 7 years of field leadership experience in heavy civil, site work, and structural concrete (Superintendent or General Foreman level).
- Proven history managing utility installation, earthwork, grading, concrete foundations, walls, flatwork, hardscapes, and paving on public or institutional projects in the NY metro region.
- Experience supervising union labor and subcontractors; strong communication and conflict‑resolution skills.
- OSHA‑30 and demonstrated commitment to safety leadership.
- Familiarity with NYC and NY State agency standards, inspection processes, and public‑works documentation.
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, shop drawings, and submittals.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital field reporting tools.
Preferred
- Experience working on airports, campuses, substations, parks, and other public infrastructure projects common across the region.
- Experience coordinating with major utilities in congested corridors.
- Additional safety or professional certifications (Site Safety, CPR/First Aid, ACI, NICET).
Education
- AS/BS in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field, or equivalent supervisory field experience.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $88.00 - $90.00/hr.
