Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Chemist to join our team, where you will play a vital role in maintaining quality control systems and conducting various analyses. You will serve as a primary contact for troubleshooting quality issues and collaborate closely with different departments to ensure compliance with chemical standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Lab Supervisor in organizing and maintaining quality control systems and audits.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for troubleshooting quality issues for the plant and quality team.
• Perform quality control tests and analyses.
• Interpret analytical findings to assess compliance with chemical standards and report findings to leadership.
• Perform all Quality Assurance Technician job duties and responsibilities.
• Communicate with contract customers regarding quality control issues.
• Develop and validate low-level active ingredient assays.
• Assist in repairs and maintenance of all laboratory equipment.
• Maintain a clean work environment using good housekeeping habits.
• Provide excellent customer service to all internal and external customers.
• Follow all company policies and procedures.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor's degree in chemistry or biology.
• Experience with gas chromatograph and HPLC.
• Organizational skills.
• Proficiency in Windows operating system and Microsoft Office 365 package.
• Working knowledge in the operation and repair of gas chromatograph and HPLC.
• Analytical skills.
• Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills.
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively across departments and functions.
• Project management experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• LCMS experience is a plus.
• Strong communication skills.
• Comfort in client-facing situations.
• Collaborative, problem-solving mindset.
• Willingness to grow and take on increasing responsibility.

Work Environment

This is a direct hire opportunity with a company investing in lab infrastructure and team development. The lab is undergoing major renovations, offering an exciting time to join and grow with the organization. You will work hands-on in formulation troubleshooting, equipment support, and client collaboration. Standard hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with flexibility during slow seasons. The setting is a plant/warehouse/lab with moderate to loud noise levels. Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, chemical and biological hazards, and occasional electrical risks is possible. Physical requirements include standing, walking, sitting, and using hands for various tasks for extended periods.

This is a Permanent position based out of Des Moines, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $75000.00/yr.
