Cad Technician

We are seeking a detail-oriented CAD Designer to join a growing manufacturer of custom industrial equipment. In this role, you will focus on transforming engineering concepts into clear, accurate, and production-ready designs using SolidWorks. The ideal candidate will apply engineering knowledge and CAD skills to support design modifications, documentation, and production processes.

• Create accurate 2D/3D part and assembly drawings from sketches or design notes.
• Develop and update models using SolidWorks.
• Translate design specifications into precise dimensions for manufacturing.
• Collaborate with project teams to incorporate design changes and updates.
• Ensure drawings clearly define dimensions, materials, and assembly details.
• Process and document Engineering Change Notices (ECNs).
• Maintain compliance with ISO 9001 standards and internal documentation procedures.
• Revise and optimize designs based on feedback and production requirements.

• 2 years of CAD design/detailing experience.
• Strong 3D modeling skills within SolidWorks.
• Proficient understanding of drafting standards.
• Experience designing metal, steel, and/or Inconel related components and fixtures.
• Ability to calculate dimensions, areas, volumes, and apply basic algebra/geometry.
• Strong understanding of geometry, materials, and manufacturing processes.

• Associate’s degree (or higher) in Engineering, Drafting, or similar field preferred.
• Experience designing custom equipment/machinery.
• Press designing experience.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

The position is based in a 65-person facility with 12 machinists and a mix of electrical/mechanical staff. The workflow is SolidWorks-based, involving both 2D and 3D design. The work environment is casual, collaborative, and hands-on, fostering long-term careers and a tight-knit culture. Some employees have been with the company for over 40 years.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Piqua, OH.

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Piqua,OH.
