Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled bilingual phlebotomist with over two years of recent phlebotomy experience. The ideal candidate will be proficient with straight needles and able to perform venipunctures independently from the first day. Strong communication skills, reliability, punctuality, and fluency in both English and Spanish are essential.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and conduct decontamination procedures.
• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures, ensuring accurate labeling and storage.
• Explain the venipuncture and specimen collection process clearly and courteously to patients.
• Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes for accuracy.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by the test order.
• Ensure test requisitions or computer labels match scripts for 100% accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport and store them according to required temperatures.
• Maintain the integrity of specimens by following specific protocols for transport.

Essential Skills

• 2 years of recent phlebotomy experience
• Proficiency in performing venipunctures independently
• Bilingual in English and Spanish
• Strong communication skills
• Reliability and punctuality

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

Work Environment

The role is based in a new Patient Service Center in Lower Manhattan, handling 30-50 patients daily, with the potential to increase to 60. The work schedule is Monday to Friday from 8 am to 5 pm, with every other Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New York, NY.

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in New York,NY.
