Benefits Verification Pharmacy Technician

This position involves processing requests for specialty drugs by verifying benefits through major medical and pharmacy benefits. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of the full home infusion therapy process to effectively analyze and advocate during benefit verification. Responsibilities include troubleshooting rejections and submitting prior authorization requests for new or recurring patients.

Responsibilities

• Perform benefit verifications through medical and pharmacy benefits.
• Submit and obtain prior authorizations with insurance companies.
• Troubleshoot pharmacy claims rejections.
• Perform monthly re-verifications.
• Collaborate with Accounts Receivable to resolve benefit issues.

• Experience with Major Medical Insurance.
• Knowledge of pharmacy benefits.
• Understanding of HCPCs codes.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.).
• Intermediate knowledge of Adobe Acrobat/PDFs.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in home infusion therapy or equivalent clinical exposure.

• Customer service experience.
• Prior authorization experience.
• Experience with data entry.
• Pharmacy technician license/cert is not required.
• Experience in specialty pharmacy, call center, insurance, and medical insurance.

This is a hybrid role with a schedule of Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5 pm. The training period can range from 2-4 weeks, depending on individual progress, and may extend if necessary. The role includes 2 onsite days in Elk Grove Village and 3 remote days. Remote days are a privilege and may be revoked if performance standards are not met. The contract is for projects ending in March 2026, with potential for extension or permanent placement, though not guaranteed.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00/hr.
