Part-Time and Full Time Positions | 8:30 AM–5:30 PM OR 12:00 PM–5:30 PM

Western Branch / Churchland – Portsmouth, VA

We are seeking a dependable, positive, and structured Afternoon Support & Closing Teacher to join our growing childcare team.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children but prefers a later start time and a well-organized afternoon routine.

Our center operates on a structured academic morning model — all lead teachers are off by 3:30 PM — and our afternoon team ensures a smooth, calm, and professional closing each day.

Schedule Options:

Option 1: 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM

Option 2: 12:00 PM – 5:30 PM

Option 3: 2:00PM – 5:30 PM

(Flexible scheduling available for the right candidate)

Duties

Position Responsibilities:

• Provide classroom support during peak hours
• Cover teacher breaks and assist with transitions
• Supervise toddlers, preschool, and/or school-age students
• Combine classrooms safely while maintaining licensing ratios per Virginia standards
• Facilitate aftercare activities, homework time, and structured play
• Maintain a clean and organized environment
• Follow closing checklist procedures
• Ensure safe dismissal of children
  
  

Requirements

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Strong interpersonal and communication skill
• Must have 1 years of previous experience working with preschool children in a group setting
• Background check is required
