Job Summary
The Traveling Superintendent is responsible for supervising interior and exterior metal framing projects at assigned locations. This role requires travel to project sites on a long-term basis, typically every two years or upon project completion. The Superintendent ensures projects are executed safely, on schedule, and in compliance with contract documents and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
● Travel to assigned project locations and oversee daily metal framing and drywall operations for the duration of the project
● Plan, schedule, and supervise field crews, foremen, and subcontractors
● Coordinate work sequencing, manpower, material deliveries, and site logistics
● Ensure all work complies with project drawings, specifications, and approved installation methods
● Oversee interior and exterior metal framing systems, including load-bearing and non-load-bearing assemblies
● Enforce company safety policies and OSHA regulations; conduct safety meetings and ensure proper PPE use
● Perform quality control inspections and promptly address deficiencies
● Maintain daily reports, schedules, photos, and jobsite documentation
● Coordinate inspections, site access, and work with general contractors and other trades
● Communicate job progress, staffing needs, and issues with project management
● Serve as the primary on-site company representative with clients, inspectors, and general contractors
Qualifications
● Proven experience as a Superintendent or Foreman in metal framing and drywall construction
● Willingness to travel and remain at assigned project locations for extended durations (typically up to two years or until project completion)
● Strong knowledge of interior and exterior metal framing systems and installation practices
● Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
● Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
● Working knowledge of OSHA and jobsite safety requirements
