Position Overview:
The Safety Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of workplace safety, compliance, and regulatory requirements. This includes ensuring adherence to safety standards, implementing policies to reduce risks, and overseeing workers' compensation claims, DWC-1 forms, OSHA certification, and other safety-related documentation. The Safety Coordinator will work closely with various departments to ensure a safe work environment for all employees and compliance with applicable regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Safety Management and Compliance:

Develop, implement, and enforce workplace safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and other federal, state, and local safety standards.

Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards, and recommend corrective actions to ensure workplace safety.

Maintain a thorough understanding of federal and state safety regulations, including OSHA standards, and ensure that the organization adheres to all compliance requirements.

Manage and maintain OSHA 300 logs and 300A reports, ensuring accurate record-keeping for workplace injuries and illnesses.
2. Workers’ Compensation & DWC-1 Management:

Oversee the workers' compensation program, including the timely reporting and processing of claims.

Complete and submit DWC-1 forms for injured employees and ensure all necessary documentation is collected and submitted in accordance with state laws.

Collaborate with third-party administrators, insurance companies, and medical providers to facilitate the proper management of workers’ compensation claims.

Monitor workers' compensation claims to ensure proper follow-up and to help employees return to work as quickly as possible, while also supporting the company's cost-containment efforts.
3. Employee Safety Training and Education:

Develop and deliver safety training programs to ensure all employees are educated on safety protocols and procedures, including emergency response, fire safety, personal protective equipment (PPE), and machinery safety.

Maintain records of all training sessions, certifications, and compliance with regulatory training requirements.

Organize and conduct regular safety meetings and drills, ensuring staff are adequately prepared for emergency situations.
4. Incident Reporting and Investigation:

Investigate all safety incidents, accidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Maintain detailed incident reports and follow up on the implementation of corrective measures.

Work with department heads to ensure corrective actions are taken promptly and effectively.
5. OSHA and Regulatory Reporting:

Ensure timely filing of the OSHA 300A form and other regulatory reports such as the Form 5500 (as required).

Monitor and maintain OSHA certifications for the company, including staying updated on any changes to regulations or standards that may affect safety practices.

Assist in preparing for and coordinating OSHA inspections and audits.
6. Policy Development and Continuous Improvement:

Continuously evaluate the safety management system and propose improvements to increase safety awareness, reduce risk, and ensure compliance.

Develop policies and procedures to address emerging safety issues or changes in regulations.

Provide recommendations to management on safety performance and potential areas for improvement.
7. Patient Care and Employee Wellness:

Oversee the safety and care of employees in the event of workplace injuries, ensuring they receive proper medical attention and care.

Maintain documentation of medical care and recovery processes for injured employees.

Coordinate with health professionals to monitor and support employees’ recovery, facilitating return-to-work programs and accommodations when necessary.
Required Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or related field (preferred).

Certifications: OSHA Certification (30-Hour or 10-Hour training), First Aid/CPR Certification (preferred), DWC-1 Certification (preferred).

Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years in a safety coordination or similar role, preferably within a manufacturing, construction, or industrial setting.

Skills:

In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and workers' compensation laws.

Ability to assess risks and develop effective safety policies.

Excellent communication and training skills.

Proficiency in safety management software and MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Physical Demands:
