Job Title: Behavioral Support Coach
Job Summary:
A Behavioral Support Coach works with individuals to improve behavioral, emotional, and social functioning. They provide guidance, structure, and strategies to help clients develop positive behaviors, build coping skills, and achieve greater independence in daily life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support individuals in developing positive behavior patterns and reducing challenging behaviors
- Implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) designed by clinical or supervisory staff
- Teach coping strategies, emotional regulation, and social skills
- Provide one-on-one coaching in home, school, or community settings
- Observe and document client behavior, progress, and incidents accurately
- Reinforce positive behaviors using evidence-based techniques (e.g., positive reinforcement)
- Assist clients with daily living skills such as communication, organization, and problem-solving
- Collaborate with families, caregivers, teachers, and other professionals
- Maintain a safe, supportive, and structured environment
- Respond appropriately to behavioral crises using approved intervention strategies
- Track progress toward goals and contribute to reports and assessments
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of behavior management techniques
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, empathy, and consistency
- Ability to remain calm in challenging situations
- Basic knowledge of mental health or developmental disorders (preferred)
- Experience working with children, adolescents, or adults with behavioral needs (preferred)
- High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, or a related field (preferred)
- Must pass a background check
- Valid driver’s license (DL) and reliable transportation required
Work Environment:
- May work in homes, schools, clinics, or community-based settings
- Flexible hours, including evenings or weekends depending on client needs
- Active role requiring standing, walking, and occasional physical intervention (if trained and required)
