Maintenance Supervisor - Day Shift

$85,000 - $95,000 Bonus
GENERAL PURPOSE
Provide work direction and supervision to maintenance employees to ensure the effective delivery of maintenance services in accordance with company policies, OSHA regulations, and applicable laws. Function as a resource and point of escalation for direct reports. Coach, mentor, and provide ongoing performance development opportunities to team members.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prioritize and assign daily jobs and work orders, providing clear direction to maintenance employees. Oversee pass-down issues and monitor activities to ensure efficient and safe maintenance operations.
- Implement an effective predictive and preventive maintenance program with strategies for all assets to reduce unscheduled downtime and extend asset lifespan.
- Use maintenance systems (e.g., SAP or similar) for task planning, including labor estimates, required parts, and job descriptions, to maximize maintenance activity during normal operation, washes, planned downtime, and maintenance shutdowns. Utilize project management tools to detail activities for planned downtime.
- Ensure maintenance staff has a solid understanding of work practices and procedures.
- Assist the maintenance manager to ensure all preventive maintenance work orders are completed on schedule. Assist with daily maintenance issues and repairs.
- Actively support and implement preventive maintenance programs; schedule, monitor, and adjust the program as needed.
- Serve as the first point of contact for emergency maintenance requests.
- Oversee repairs and maintenance of all plant equipment.
- Assist in developing procedures and policies for the maintenance department.
- Complete and maintain recordkeeping using databases and computerized maintenance management systems.
- Support root cause analysis on equipment breakdowns or failures to ensure issues are addressed and resolved.
- Assist the maintenance manager with capital and special projects.
- Work with inventory or supply personnel to ensure adequate spare parts and equipment availability.
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently and make sound decisions when the maintenance manager is unavailable.
- Stay current on industry regulations and codes related to mechanical and electrical systems design and operation.
- Provide staff training on existing and new equipment.
- Perform supervisory activities including promotions, transfers, timekeeping review, performance evaluations, mentoring, training, and coaching.
- Follow all applicable good manufacturing practices (GMPs) and work in compliance with regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Undergraduate degree (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
- 2–5 years of maintenance or related experience, with demonstrated leadership ability, team lead experience, or supervisory experience.
- Experience working with and enforcing safety policies and procedures.
- Certifications and/or licenses may be required or preferred (e.g., electrical, welding, boiler, refrigeration, compressed air, wastewater, or plumbing).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Strong knowledge of facility equipment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and maintenance/enterprise computer systems.
- Knowledge of supervisory principles, training, and personnel management.
- Ability to lead and instruct others in safe work procedures.
- Ability to perform all required preventive, productive, predictive, and scheduled maintenance tasks.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively and foster teamwork.
- Ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple tasks using independent judgment.
- Demonstrated initiative and follow-through on daily responsibilities.
- Ability to adapt to changing operational needs and lead others through change.
- Ability to select, coach, develop, engage, and retain employees.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
