THE TEAM YOU WILL BE JOINING
- Join an established accounting team within a large-scale industrial construction business that has been operating for more than 50 years.
- The company was recently acquired by a major publicly traded organization, creating additional exposure to public-company reporting, controls, and financial processes.
- You’ll work closely with the CFO, executive leadership, Project Managers, and an experienced accounting team across contracts, payroll, AP, GL, and project accounting.
- This is a stable, team-oriented environment with several employees who have spent decades with the organization.
- Matthews / Indian Trail, NC area.
- Primarily onsite because of the level of partnership required with accounting and operations.
- Monday–Thursday: 7:00 AM–5:00 PM.
- Friday: 4 hours remote, with some flexibility depending on business needs.
- Opportunity to become a key financial leader within an established construction business backed by a large publicly traded parent organization.

- A long-term opportunity within an organization that puts significant value on employee tenure and stability.
- This is much more than a high-level Controller position. They need someone who understands the full accounting operation and is willing to stay close to the details.
- You’ll own key areas across financial reporting, close, job costing, WIP, payroll, tax reporting, contracts, AP/AR, budgeting, and internal controls.
- A major part of the role is partnering directly with Project Managers and operations leaders to understand job costs, projections, margins, and overall project performance.
- The company’s recent acquisition has also created additional reporting and compliance expectations, making this person an important part of continuing to strengthen the accounting function.
- Leadership wants someone who can come in with relevant experience, understand the business quickly, and become a trusted partner across finance and operations.
- 10 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, ideally including Controller or Assistant Controller responsibility.
- Construction or project-based accounting experience is required.
- Strong understanding of job costing, WIP reporting, project accounting, and revenue recognition.
- Comfortable working directly with Project Managers and operational leadership.
- Hands-on accounting mentality. This is not a role for someone looking to simply manage a team and stay out of the details.
- Experience with payroll, financial reporting, close, tax processes, GAAP, and internal controls.
- Vista by Viewpoint experience is highly preferred.
- ERP implementation, finance transformation, automation, BI, or AI-tool experience is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- CPA is preferred but not required.
- Strong preference for someone with career stability who is looking for a long-term home, not simply their next title.
