Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support using proper manual handling and patient transfer methods like Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor patients’ health by taking vital signs, observing for changes in condition, and reporting findings accurately to healthcare professionals.
- Support medication administration following HIPAA guidelines to ensure privacy and safety.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary needs and assist with meal consumption to promote proper nutrition.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning duties and ensuring infection control protocols are followed.
- Provide patient personal care assistance with compassion while respecting individual dignity and preferences.
- Support residents' emotional well-being through effective communication, companionship, and engagement in activities suited to their interests and abilities.
- Assist with transportation needs for appointments or community outings using appropriate safety procedures.
- Follow care plans meticulously designed by healthcare teams for residents with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, autism spectrum disorder, or other developmental disabilities.
- Document patient observations, care provided, and any incidents clearly and accurately in compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to observe patients closely and report changes promptly; experience with patient monitoring is essential.
- Knowledge of specialized care such as dementia care, memory care, hospice care, Alzheimer's support, or neurodevelopmental disorders enhances your suitability for this role.
- Proficiency in assisting with ADLs, manual handling techniques including Hoyer lifts, patient transfer methods, and heavy lifting when necessary.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as medication administration or HIPAA training are advantageous.
- Familiarity with care plans development and implementation for individuals with intellectual disabilities or developmental disabilities is a plus.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and healthcare teams while maintaining confidentiality per HIPAA standards.
- Ability to perform light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning to ensure a safe living environment for residents or clients.
