Overview
We are seeking a Peer Recovery Specialist with lived experience and a passion for connection to support individuals enrolled in our Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) program. This role is both patient-facing and community-focused, serving as a bridge between our program, the people we serve, and the broader Germantown/Montgomery County community. Responsibilities
- Provide peer support and recovery coaching to patients enrolled in MAT
- Build authentic, supportive relationships with patients through regular check-ins, encouragement, and advocacy
- Assist patients with engagement, retention, and motivation in treatment
- Conduct outreach and community engagement to promote program awareness and reduce stigma
- Develop and maintain community relationships with shelters, probation/parole offices, hospitals, social service agencies, and local organizations
- Help recruit and refer new patients into the MAT program through outreach and education
- Support patients with linkage to resources (housing, employment, transportation, benefits, recovery supports)
- Collaborate closely with counselors, nurses, providers, and administrative staff
- Document peer services accurately and timely in accordance with program and state requirements
Qualifications
- Certified Peer Recovery Specialist in Maryland
- Lived experience in recovery from substance use disorder
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable engaging individuals in clinical and community settings
- Knowledge of MAT (methadone, buprenorphine, naltrexone) preferred
- Ability to build trust with diverse populations
- Reliable transportation for local outreach preferred
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
