Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Consultant – Contract
📍 On-Site | 3–6 Month Contract
We are partnering with a chemical manufacturing organization seeking a highly experienced Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Consultant to step into a hands-on leadership role during a critical compliance and program enhancement phase.
This is not a “sit back and advise” consulting opportunity — our client needs someone who can immediately hit the ground running, assess existing programs, identify gaps, ensure compliance, and actively help execute improvements across the facility.
The organization already has a solid foundation in place, but they are looking for a senior-level safety professional who can strengthen programs, guide leadership, support ongoing compliance initiatives, and mentor internal safety personnel.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Evaluate and strengthen existing EHS programs and procedures
- Ensure OSHA and chemical manufacturing compliance standards are being met
- Conduct hands-on safety training and coaching for leadership and employees
- Lead and support compliance initiatives including:
- HAZCOM
- SDS management
- Respiratory protection & fit testing
- Hearing conservation
- Emergency evacuation planning
- Spill response & waste disposal
- Fall protection
- Ladder safety
- Ergonomics
- Active shooter training
- Air permitting/certification support
- Assist with medical surveillance coordination including blood draws and hearing testing
- Partner with leadership to identify compliance risks and implement practical corrective actions
- Serve as a mentor and guide to internal safety personnel during transition and growth phases
What We’re Looking For
- Strong background in chemical manufacturing or highly regulated industrial environments
- Proven experience leading EHS compliance programs in manufacturing settings
- Deep understanding of OSHA regulations and compliance requirements
- OSHA 30 certification strongly preferred
- Experience with HAZCOM, SDS systems, respiratory protection, and chemical handling protocols
- Ability to work both strategically and tactically — this role requires someone willing to be highly hands-on
- Strong communication and training abilities
- Consultant mindset with operational execution capability
Additional Notes
- This is expected to be a 3–6 month engagement
- Ideal for a seasoned EHS professional or consultant looking for impactful project-based work
- Client is especially interested in candidates with extensive chemical safety and compliance experience
If you’re an experienced EHS leader who enjoys improving programs, mentoring teams, and creating practical compliance solutions in manufacturing environments, we’d love to connect.
