Industrial Engineer – Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement
A global, engineering‑driven manufacturer of advanced industrial systems is seeking an Industrial Engineer to support manufacturing excellence, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement at a U.S. production facility in Southeastern Wisconsin.
This is a highly visible role for an engineer who enjoys working close to the shop floor, partnering with production leaders, and using data‑driven methods to improve cost, quality, and throughput.
The Role
The Industrial Engineer develops and improves systems used to manage production processes, with a focus on cycle time reduction, yield improvement, waste elimination, and working‑capital efficiency. This role plays a key part in aligning plant‑level improvements with broader global manufacturing and Lean initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and evaluate manufacturing systems using principles of:
- Human work factors
- Quality control
- Inventory and material flow
- Logistics and cost analysis
- Partner with production leadership to coordinate Lean and continuous improvement initiatives across multiple facilities
- Facilitate work teams to improve safety, efficiency, and profitability
- Track improvement initiatives, milestones, metrics, and results
- Review production schedules, work orders, and engineering documentation to:
- Estimate manufacturing costs
- Identify cost‑reduction opportunities
- Assess the impact of process changes on cost and quality
- Develop, maintain, and standardize work instructions
- Implement methods to reduce working capital and improve inventory effectiveness
- Communicate best practices and standard processes across the organization
What They’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering
- 5 years of experience applying Lean systems in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with TPS, SME, or 5S / Lean certifications strongly preferred
- Strong analytical and data‑driven problem‑solving skills
- Ability to collaborate cross‑functionally with production, engineering, and leadership teams
- Willingness to travel up to 10% (including air travel)
- Valid driver’s license and passport
