About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Manual Machinist to join our precision manufacturing team. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in manual machining to produce and refurbish high-tolerance components for diverse industrial sectors, ensuring every part meets rigorous quality standards.
Responsibilities- Interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T specifications to execute precise machining operations.
- Set up and operate manual equipment including engine lathes, turret lathes, and various milling machines to achieve exact tolerances.
- Perform critical machining tasks such as boring, thread chasing, facing, and precision fitting on a variety of materials.
- Utilize advanced work-holding techniques, including independent chucks and steady rests, to ensure accurate alignment and centering.
- Select optimal tooling, feeds, and speeds to maximize production efficiency while maintaining component integrity.
- Verify part compliance using precision measuring tools like micrometers, bore gauges, and indicators.
- Maintain a safe, organized workspace and document production progress to ensure consistent quality output.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in manual machining environments.
- Proficiency in operating manual lathes, vertical mills, and boring mills.
- Strong grasp of shop mathematics and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
- Ability to read and translate technical blueprints into finished components.
- Experience with precision inspection tools and alignment procedures.
Preferred Skills
- Completion of a formal Journeyman Machinist program.
- Exposure to CNC machining processes and programming.
- Background in large-scale component repair or industrial refurbishment.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management systems.
