Job Title: Registered Nurse – Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

Shift: Night/ Days Shift – 3x12 hours

Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week

Job Summary

The ICU Registered Nurse provides high-quality, patient-centered critical care to acutely ill patients in a Level I Trauma Center. The RN will manage complex medical conditions, perform advanced clinical interventions, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes. This position requires flexibility, strong clinical judgment, and the ability to float across multiple ICU units based on facility needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients requiring intensive monitoring and life-support interventions
• Manage care for patients on mechanical ventilation, BiPAP, and CPAP
• Perform arterial line management, central line care, and IV therapy
• Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and monitor respiratory and cardiac status
• Administer and titrate continuous IV sedation, cardiac drips, and vasoactive medications
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond to emergencies, including management of dysrhythmias
• Provide care for patients with multisystem organ dysfunction or failure
• Perform endotracheal and nasotracheal suctioning as indicated
• Maintain strict adherence to isolation precautions, PPE, and infection control policies
• Accurately document patient care using Cerner electronic medical records
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary team members
• Float within scope to various ICU units, including Burn ICU, CCU, MICU, SICU, and Neuro ICU; may float to Med-Surg units if required

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN License (Pending license not accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute ICU experience
• BLS
• ACLS
• NIHSS
• Strong experience with ventilated patients and critical care medications
• Ability to work in a mandatory float environment
