Medical Surgical Nurse

Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Tele (MS/Tele)

Contract Length: 13 Weeks

Shift: Nights, 3x12 (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)

Job Summary

We are seeking experienced and dedicated Registered Nurses for a Med/Surg Telemetry unit. This role provides comprehensive care to adult and geriatric patients with a wide range of medical and surgical conditions. Candidates should be confident working in a fast-paced environment with strong clinical decision-making skills.

Requirements

• Minimum Experience: 1 year of recent MS/Tele experience
• Charting: EPIC (Required)
• Certifications Required:
• BLS
• ACLS
• NIHSS
• Telemetry competency
• Travel Experience: Not required — first-time travelers accepted
• License: Active Compact or State RN License (must be in hand at time of submission)
• RTO: Limited — up to 4 days every 6 weeks (must be submitted at time of application)
• References: 2 required
• Background/Compliance: All screenings reviewed by facility; must meet compliance standards
• Other Requirements:
• Natural nail policy
• Ability to float within scope
• BSN preferred

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Med/Surg Telemetry
• Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics
• Patient Diagnoses:
• Medical: COPD, CHF, Diabetes, PNA, NSTEMI, CVA/TIA, Afib, COVID, Sepsis, UTI, Respiratory Failure, Dementia, Failure to Thrive
• Surgical: Total joints, amputations, GI surgeries (cholecystectomy, appendectomy, colectomy), wound care
• Census: 15–18 patients
• Beds: 24
• Procedures:
• Chest tube insertions
• Thoracentesis
• Paracentesis
• Equipment/Skills:
• Chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac)
• BiPAP/CPAP
• Peripheral IV insertion & maintenance
• Isolation precautions

Schedule & Orientation

• Scheduling: Self-scheduling
• Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend
• Orientation: 24 hours on-site
• Modules: Required, completed during orientation week

Additional Notes

• Manager will conduct interviews prior to selection
• No guaranteed time off during the first week of the assignment
• Staff must be gone for one year before returning as a traveler
