We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Surgical Scheduler to join our dynamic healthcare team. Duties
- Schedule surgical procedures accurately within electronic health record (EHR)
- Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance authorization and verification processes to facilitate smooth scheduling.
- Review medical documentation including care plans, medical records, and prior authorizations to ensure completeness before scheduling surgeries.
- Coordinate with physicians, surgical teams, anesthesia providers, and patients to confirm dates, times, and necessary pre-operative instructions.
- Manage multi-line phone systems with professionalism while providing exceptional patient service and answering inquiries related to surgery scheduling.
- Maintain detailed documentation review processes for CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9/10 (International Classification of Diseases), and ICD coding to ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Authorizations.
- Utilize computer skills to update patient information accurately in various EMR systems.
- Handle administrative tasks including filing medical records, verifying insurance details, and maintaining organized scheduling logs.
- Provide front desk support by greeting patients, managing appointment intake, and ensuring efficient flow of clinic operations.
- Assist with billing processes related to medical coding and medical collection efforts as needed.
- Requirements
- Proven experience in clinical scheduling within a healthcare setting.
- Strong knowledge of EMR systems.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding standards, and Medicare guidelines.
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office suite; typing speed of at least 10 key per second is preferred.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to review documentation thoroughly and manage multiple priorities efficiently.
- Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
- Previous experience in a hospital or clinic environment involving medical billing or administrative support is advantageous.
- Strong phone etiquette skills coupled with excellent customer service orientation.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
