What are the responsibilities and job description for the CMM Operator - 1st Shift position at Abrasive-Form, Inc.?
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Modify existing programs and create new programs for CMMs based on interpreting complex drawings. Programming languages include PC-Dmis and Camio.
- Communicate with customers and peers regarding how a program was developed and assist with correlation of CMM measurements to the customer’s standard.
- Export inspection data from the CMMs and compile into customer specific inspection sheets using Datapage software.
- Manage the maintenance, repairs, calibration of CMMs as needed.
- Manage the scheduling of the CMM’s to support the shop and maximize machine productivity.
- Train operators on proper gaging techniques and the use of the CMM and other related QC processes.
- Ensure calibration of custom gages are completed per schedule and maintain calibration records according to existing quality standards.
- Manage gage layouts / calibrations for new gages and newly modified gages according to the calibration drawings or CAD models, where available.
- Manage fixture layouts for new fixtures and newly modified fixtures according to the fixture drawings or CAD models, where available.
- Troubleshoot all CMM issues.
- Assist process development teams with statistical analysis, gage R&R analysis, Control Plans and other process launch documentation as required by the customer.
- Other tasks as assigned by the manager.
Qualification:
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook etc.)
- Identifying complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
- Interpretation of complex blueprints including GD&T
- The ability to calculate and interpret common statistics (measurement and capability studies)
- Experience with any of the following would be considered a plus: Surface Plate Layout, Calibration, CMM programming, turbine blades or vanes, investment casting, Minitab software
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
Experience and Education:
- Experience in manufacturing quality capacity a plus.
Work Environment:
- Physical ability to do work requiring frequent stooping and bending.
- Physical strength to lift and carry 25 pounds.
- Visual acuity (corrected) to read directions and prints and to inspect machined parts closely to ensure that they meet specifications.
