Lead Offset Pressman
Shift: 7:00am-3:30pm
Location: Sheboygan
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Lead Offset Pressman to oversee press operations, support press crew members, and ensure high-quality production standards are met. This role is responsible for troubleshooting press issues, maintaining color and registration standards, coordinating workflow, and mentoring press assistants. The Lead Offset Pressman plays a critical role in maintaining efficiency, quality, and safety on the press floor.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Troubleshoot press issues and assist feeder operators as needed
Issue job stock, prepare loads, and assist with hanging plates
Mix inks, maintain ink levels in fountains, and replace blankets
Register press, achieve color standards, and correct press defects
Monitor production for imperfections, damaged blankets, or scratches
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized press area
Train and mentor Offset Assistants/Feeder Pressmen on press operations and quality standards
Follow supervisor instructions while working independently with minimal supervision
Maintain required production and quality standards per company Quality Control Program
Verify Factory Tickets prior to production, including load tickets, sheet size, substrate, caliper, ink colors, and plate sequence
Coordinate scheduling and workflow with the Print Department Supervisor
Communicate effectively with other departments to ensure consistent workflow
Understand proper die positioning and interdepartmental processes
Order inks and printing supplies from approved vendors
Organize press crews and assist with floor scheduling procedures
Operate Power Industrial Vehicles as required
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
Previous offset press experience strongly preferred
Ability to troubleshoot press-related issues and manage press crews
Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
Familiarity with printing supplies, inks, and press operations
Skills & Abilities
Ability to read and write routine reports and communicate effectively with team members and management
Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals
Strong reasoning skills with the ability to follow written and verbal instructions and solve practical problems
Physical Requirements
Frequently required to stand, walk, reach, and use hands for handling materials
Ability to lift up to 35 pounds regularly and up to 70 pounds occasionally
Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception
