What are the responsibilities and job description for the AHS Assistant Forensics Coach position at Abilene USD 435?
Abilene High School is seeking an Assistant Forensics Coach for this upcoming season only. This is a temporary position that will be for this upcomign 2026 season only.
The Assistant Forensics/Debate Coach supports the head coach in developing students’ competitive speaking, argumentation, and critical thinking skills. This position plays an important role in preparing students for high school forensics and debate competitions and ensuring a positive, organized, and supportive experience for all participants.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
Demonstrate an understanding of high school forensics and debate formats, rules, and scoring procedures.
Assist with planning and conducting practices focused on skill development and competition readiness.
Transport and supervise students to and from competitions, which include weekend events.
Support students at competitions by helping them stay organized, prepared, and focused throughout the day.
Serve as a tournament judge when needed to fulfill competition requirements.
Promote sportsmanship, responsibility, and teamwork in alignment with school and athletic department values.
