Position Summary
The MICE Account Manager is responsible for generating business by promoting DMC services to domestic and international corporations, agencies, organizations & event travel planners looking to host incentive travel programs, small/medium company events, corporate retreats, team bonding exercises, and company-sponsored group travels within the USA & Canada.
The manager will oversee the sales process from lead generation to contract fulfillment, including designing, planning, pricing, and executing travel itineraries and events.
This position will form the foundation of the DMC’s new MICE department.
Responsibilities And Accountabilities
Client Acquisition and Relationship Building
- Identify potential clients with MICE incentive, events, and group travel needs.
- Build strong relationships with key decision-makers within client organizations.
- Conduct a needs analysis to understand the client's objectives, budget, and event requirements.
Proposal Development and Sales Cycle Management
- Design and prepare detailed proposals with pricing and event/travel logistics & effectively present them to clients.
- Negotiate contracts and terms with clients & suppliers to secure business.
- Manage the sales pipeline, tracking leads and opportunities through the sales cycle.
Event and Travel Planning and Coordination
- Oversee events and travel logistics, including (where applicable) sourcing hotels, venues, staffing, transportation, catering, and entertainment.
- Monitor event and travel itinerary execution to ensure quality standards are met.
Account Management and Client Retention
- Regularly communicate with clients to understand their satisfaction levels and address any concerns.
- Implement strategies to retain existing clients and foster long-term partnerships.
- Conduct training & sales sessions.
Skills And Abilities
- Established contacts with incentive, event, and corporate travel companies (Maritz, BCD, etc.) and DMC network partners (GDP, GDA, etc.)
- In-depth knowledge of the latest trends in incentive programs, team-building activities, and group destination experiences within the USA & Canada
- Ambitious and eager to build and develop a MICE team around them.
- Able to construct and price detailed RFPs’ for group requests.
- Energetic, passionate, self-starter & go getter.
- Strong sales and negotiation skills with keen motivation to acquire & expand client roster.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Fluent in English (other languages an advantage)
- Proficiency in CRM systems and sales tools
Education And Experience
- Experience: Minimum of three years in a similar role, with a proven track record of exceeding sales goals
- Experience as an events planner or group journeys specialist is an advantage.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a business discipline preferred and/or equivalent related industry experience.
Special Requirements
- Involves some travel
- Representing the DMC at relevant trade shows
- Be on site for functions and fam trips where necessary
- Ability to work weekends where necessary

Salary Range
- $80,000 - $90,000
